Reiki training traditionally follows three levels, according to Mikao Usui, and is taught in seminars with initiations (Reiju) during which the energy flow is opened.
Reiki 1 (Shoden): Self-healing, hand positions for your own body and close relatives; focus on presence and feeling energy.
Reiki 2 (Okuden): Distance healing with symbols (e.g. Cho Ku Rei, Sei He Ki), mental/emotional work; extended to clients. Practice: Regular self-treatment, ethics and integration into life are essential.
Reiki Master Training: The master level (Shinpiden) qualifies you to teach: learning the master symbol (Dai Ko Myo), initiation techniques, mentoring students and building a practice.
